tony stark kept steve’s shield in his GARAGE. he could have destroyed it. used the vibranium for something else. he could have shoved it in a storage container. or left it at the compound. or in his property in australia. but NO HE MOVED TO HIS LAKESIDE HOUSE and brought the shield to the house when he moved. 

i know i’ve said it before but i just noticed tony asks morgan where she found the rescue helmet and she says in the garage okay so the garage is tony’s workshop in that house so tony kept the shield in his workshop, in his special place, where he sees it everyday and it’s like how he kept the flip phone with him in his breast pocket listen that jacket was nanotech, tony had to actively think to make a special pocket for the phone -

steve dropped the shield to the ground. tony picked the shield up. then brought it back home with him. and as much as steve hurt him, tony still cared enough to take the shield with him wherever he lived??? for more than half a decade?? he loved you, and he admired you. even when you fought and when he finally held the shield up for steve to take back (if you’re nothing without the shield you shouldn’t have it), tony was also giving steve back his trust, his forgiveness, his faith in steve after all those years and i -
