We are in a room with cream walls and I can see a painting of orange flowers with golden frames on it. There’s a brown old-fashioned table full of old books and a record player playing a song from the 80s. The sun is filling the whole room with warmth that these walls can’t stop from coming in, the light that fills the room is comforting and it must be around 5 p.m. I can only recognize this place as home cause that’s how I feel; I’m happy and loved here. I am finally satisfied. And then I think ‘Of course I am, you’re here with me and things are brighter because of it.’ We are laughing until our bellies hurt. We dance and sing and we touch each other and we are not afraid of it. There is nothing that compares to this because even though I can see home as a physical place this time, I know that you are the reason behind it. You made this place my home cause that’s what you are to me. I can name all the things inside this house but the truth is: You are the way the sun is shining and you are the warmth emanating from the walls. You’re the paiting with golden frames too. We are in a golden room and this is where I finally win. This is the place we built for love and light and belly laughs. We are never going to be in this room but it exists in some reality out there, it does exist somewhere. We are never going to be in this room but the memory plays in my head on perpetual repeat because I know that somewhere we have found each other and we have won.
